New Updates: Halo Infinite Multiplayer Surprise Launch November 15th, New Evidence
Almost two weeks ago, following the accidental listing of an early release bundle on the Microsoft/Xbox store, we posted an article examining the possibility of an early release of Halo Infinite. You can find that article here if it’s of interest to you!
Our verdict was, given the Forza Horizon 5 early release for Xbox Game pass subscribers, that Halo Infinite could see the same treatment. However, new information that has come to light today that supports the idea of an early release, but in a different format than we had expected.
In this article we’re going to examine the evidence!
Let’s set the mood for this article with a short video and quote from Joe Staten at Gamescom 2021 back at the end of August earlier this year.
I want to quote Joe Staten for those who missed it:
“That’s right, it’s a big year and for this twentieth anniversary we might have something a little special up our sleeves”
I personally think this quote has been overlooked and I feel like the word “might” is important here, it suggests to me a final decision hadn’t been made as of August 25th when Gamescom took place. Yet, with the information we have now, this quote has new meaning!
So, did Joe Staten hint at an early release? We think it’s possible!
Since the announcement, we’ve been working under the assumption that “Campaign and Multiplayer will ship together on December 8th”, that’s another Joe Staten quote. However, it should be noted that the Microsoft/Xbox Store has only ever shown a release date of December 8th for the Campaign.
Then let’s fast forward to last week. An early release bundle is dropped on the Microsoft/Xbox store and promptly removed, again you can find details of that right here!
That brings us today and we have new information!
Earlier today a user by the name of Adam Fairclough (@EvilBoris) tweeted out a screenshot of data mined from the Microsoft/Xbox store showing a hidden early release package dated for the 15th of November… Which coincides with the 20th Anniversary of Xbox and Halo: Combat Evolved!
In case you weren’t aware, this anniversary is a big deal. Microsoft/Xbox have rebranded much of their site and they’re also throwing a live event on the 15th. You can find that information here, plus times for a number of different time zones below!
- 10:00am PT
- 1:00pm ET
- 6:00pm GMT
…and here’s the screenshot of that data from Twitter:
Okay, so this is an interesting development… but as it’s from a random Twitter user and not from official sources, it’s definitely something we should take with a pinch of salt.
However, then we did some digging of our own!
This is where it gets really exciting. After the information above was posted to the internet we decided to do some digging and to reach out to our network of sources.
As many of you are aware. we’ve been researching the possibility of integrating Infinite & MCC stat tracking into HaloHub for some time… So many months ago we figured out how to pull data from 343i’s servers. A number of other people have already done this including our friends @HaloDotAPI.
Some of our sources (That we can’t name to protect their identities) told us to have a dig around in the data that we can pull from 343i’s servers and here is what we found!
- Halo Infinite Data Services are now Online!
- Halo Infinite Season 1 “Heroes of Reach” starts on November 15th
There is more still too!
The data we found also listed start dates for the newly announced “Fracture” events, along with a name “Tenrai” for this seasons fracture events. The dates we found are as follows.
- Week 1: Nov 23rd – Nov 29th, 2021
- Week 2: Jan 4th – Jan 10th, 2022
- Week 3: Feb 1st – Feb 7th, 2022
So what does this all mean?
Well we’re now working under the assumption that plans have changed and that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will ship on Monday 15th of November ahead of schedule. We believe it’s very unlikely 343i would have started to turn on their data servers this far from launch, plus a plethora of circumstantial evidence supports this view!
We’re really excited to bring you all this news, with our own research and we can’t wait to probably play multiplayer with you all in a few short days! We’ve also brought forward some new improvements to HaloHub, they’ll be dropping this weekend!
Naturally we’ll keep you updated as to any new developments! However, if you haven’t already, do make sure you follow us on Twitter @HaloHubGG
Oh and if that wasn’t enough evidence, it’s completely circumstantial… but Google has now listed Halo Infinite’s initial release date as November 15th too! Here’s a screenshot:
Thanks for @SnapZ on Twitter for this image!
Update as of November 13th, the evidence continues to mount!
A massive shout out to regular contributor @Eskiea on Twitter for bringing this to our attention. The official Pringles website (that is partnered with 343i to provide release content) is now showing a release in line with our new expectations. Take a look below:
Second major update of the day:
We can confirm that we credible evidence in our possession of a campaign demo releasing alongside multiplayer on Monday. We have screenshots in our possession showing famous players, streamers and gaming personalities who are under Non Disclosure Agreements with Xbox / 343i discussing the launch on Monday and telling their close friends to take the day off work and leaking minor details that they are aware of already. Obviously we can’t share these pictures to protect them from potential lawsuits.
We will update this again if/when we have more information!
